The emerging discipline of urban horticulture encompasses more than just the cultivation of plants. It includes environmental, ornamental and amenity/landscape horticulture with a focus on urban landscapes and related issues of design, planning, implementation and management. Urban environments are expanding across the globe and there is increasing evidence* of industry growth and employment in a range of sectors*. Fuelled by social and environmental change, improvements in production and management systems and new business and marketing opportunities this growth is likely to continue well into the future.
